
The Board also welcomed two new members as Mr. Keith Copeland and Mr. Kit Worley were sworn in as the newest Board Members. Mr. Worley replaces Dana McClaren, as the Board Member for Milam County representing agricultural interests. Dana served for two years on the Board and was a great addition to the POSGCD Board with her knowledge of groundwater, agriculture, and legal issues. She served on the Rules Committee and the Building Committee. Mr. Copeland steps into the place of Sidney Youngblood. Sidney served on the POSGCD Board since 2014 and he served as President of the Board for six years. Sidney was the Board Member representing industrial interests from Milam County, and was active in the several Board committees, including Rules, Advisory, and Building Committees.
Mr. Copeland has property and a home in the Minerva area where he raises cows, grows potatoes and has owned a small business for 30 years. He earned a BS in Geology from Baylor University and did his thesis work on water availability in the Carrizo-Wilcox aquifer. Keith worked for 9 years at the Texas Water Commission (now called TCEQ) and also worked at Ranger Environmental Services. He conducted hundreds of groundwater assessments in his 40 years of groundwater work.
Mr. Worley lives in the San Gabriel area where he operates a family farm that has been in his family for generations. He also comes to the Board with years of experience in the water industry as he is a long time board member and current Board President of Southwest Milam Water Supply Corporation, in Rockdale.
