Mrs. Baxter’s 4th Grade Classes Study Groundwater

Doug Box, Education Coordinator at Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District shared information about Groundwater for Mrs. Baxter’s 4th Grade Science Classes at Caldwell Intermediate School. The students enjoyed interactive demonstrations and a hands-on experience using models to learn more about the water cycle, aquifers, water conservation, and point source pollution.

“The students were engaged the whole time and thoroughly enjoyed having Mr. Box speak to them. The model he brought was amazing!”

Post Oak Savannah also provides Water Wise TM kits to all the 4th grade students in Burleson and Milam Counties. These kits help students and their parents see their conservation efforts in real life by installing the products from the kit in their own home. This Water Wise program is one of the District’s education and outreach efforts meant to help make it easier for 4th, 5th, and 7th grade teachers to meet TEKS curriculum requirements and encourage groundwater conservation in Burleson and Milam counties.

In addition to the Water Wise program, the District also provides workshops open to the public about Rainwater Harvesting (March 22), Landscape Irrigation (March 2), and Plant Selection scheduled throughout the year. Additionally, POSGCD is available to schedule custom presentations and events for service clubs, local libraries, youth events, and everything in between. Contact Doug Box,
