GRANT PROGRAMS
Program Objectives
The objective of these programs is to obtain the active participation and cooperation of local water utilities, fire departments, and public agencies in the funding and successful completion of programs and projects that will result in the conservation of groundwater and the protection or enhancement of the aquifers in the District.
During years when District revenues are sufficient, the District will consider sponsoring the attendance of students and/or teachers at summer camps/seminars that place emphasis on the conservation of groundwater, rainwater harvesting, brush control, groundwater recharge enhancement, conjunctive use, precipitation enhancement of water resources, or a combination of such groundwater management programs.
Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors Scholarship Program
Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) offers a scholarship to students in Burleson and Milam Counties that are accepted and active in the Texas 4-H Water Ambassador Program (4-H2O). The scholarship is intended to support and encourage the exploration of the diverse career paths in the water industry and to invest in the development of future leaders in the industry.

Rainwater Harvesting: The District will reimburse qualifying costs to install a rainwater harvesting system. Applicants must be a resident or landowner in the District and must complete an approved rainwater harvesting course to qualify. Reimbursements are limited to $1.00 per gallon of rainwater storage of the completed system, up to $3,000 per household per lifetime.
Plugging of Water Well: The District may pay up to 100% of the cost to plug a well for qualified applicants, up to a total District expense of $2,500.00.
Fire Department Reimbursement: The District may reimburse qualified expenses from fire departments within the District which use groundwater. Fire departments who apply with appropriate documentation, according to, and under the direction of, the general manager, will be eligible for reimbursement of an amount up to the actual cost of the purchased items. Please note, limits apply for special foam disbursing nozzles not to exceed $1000 per department per year. Funds for this program may be limited. Please call the District office with any questions or for assistance in filing this form.
Local Water Utilities’ Groundwater Conservation Grants
The District will encourage and support projects and programs to conserve and/or preserve groundwater, by annually funding the District’s Groundwater Conservation Grant Program, during years when the District’s revenues remain at a level sufficient to fund the program. The objective of this program is to obtain the active participation and cooperation of local water utilities in the funding and successful completion of programs and projects that will result in the conservation of groundwater in the District. The qualifying water conservation projects and programs will include, as appropriate, projects that result in the conservation of groundwater and reduce the loss or waste of groundwater.
Applications for the 2nd 2020 cycle are due before the close of business (4:00 p.m. CST) on Friday, March 22, 2024 in the POSGCD Office.
